Hi folks,

I sincerely hope your new school year if off to a great start. On Saturday, October 4 the CCCEA will hold its first Legislative Action Team meeting for any and all interested members. We hope that at least one person from each local will attend. The event is open to all Committee of 1000 volunteers and members. Over a breakfast buffet, we will plan our get out the vote activities on behalf of our NEA-NJEA PAC-endorsed candidates: Barak Obama, Frank Lautenberg, and Frank LoBiondo. We have invited representatives from each campaign as well as our state-level legislators. This is a great opportunity to build bridges to the politicians will count on to protect labor and education. It is also a way to hold them accountable when they stray from that mission. The NJEA Government Relations Committee met last evening and there is much to update you on regarding the Dept. of Education’s new fiscal accountability regulations, ‘diploma mills,’ electronic fingerprinting, and much more.
